17-04-2012

Basil has added four brand new products to its 2012 collection, which will be presented during the major FietsVAK two-wheeler trade fair at RAI in Amsterdam (29 through 31 January). The Katharina bag now has a mat black tinted little sister, called ‘Black & Dots.’ A garland of decorative little roses has been added to the Pimp Your Bike collection, the new rattan baskets are now available in sizes XS and S, and the Serious Transport bike crate is obtainable in a new colour, industrial grey.

Katharina Black & Dots
Katharina, the delightful vintage bag line with its floral print, now has a little sister, called ‘Black & Dots.’ It excels in stylish simplicity with its mat black canvas, but it also has a cheeky, black and white polka-dotted lining. To complete the picture, it sports a black and white bow. This new line takes its inspiration from the seductive 1940s and ‘50s fashion of tight waistlines and sexy two-pieces, as well as style icon Audrey Hepburn, who made history with her little black dress. The bag line consists of Basil’s by now famous shoulder bicycle bag and a double bike bag for on the rear of the bike.

Pimp Your Bike: Flower garland with roses
Basil offers a variety of flower garlands to decorate your bike, but this garland is new, in that it features that classic among flowers: the rose. Available in white and light pink, the decorative little roses are embedded in delicate green leaves on the garland.

Rattan baskets in XS and S
Basil’s popular new rattan baskets, Denton and Dorset, were introduced last autumn. They take their inspiration from old-fashioned baker’s baskets, and have a lid, two practical handles and they’re beautifully finished with synthetic leather belts. They’re made of sustainably dyed and produced rattan. The baskets, available in Nature Brown and Nature Grey, are now also available in sizes extra small and small.

Serious Transport crate in industrial grey
Basil’s synthetic bike crates have remained hugely popular for years, and they’re perfectly suited to really heavy work. This year they’re also available in industrial grey and in sizes small and large.

The 2012 Collection
Besides these brand new products for FietsVAK, Basil will be displaying numerous other products in its 2012 collection. For example, Elements bike bags, available in plain Faded Blue and Faded Brown, with a luxurious, shiny lining and synthetic leather details. This line of bags is made of recycled canvas, and is adorned with the inventive [Re]-cycling logo, which Basil designed specifically for its recycled products, and which is a registered trademark.

Basil Retail Solutions
Basil Retail Solutions is extremely practical for any bike retailer. It’s the perfect presentation system, custom-designed by Basil to achieve higher returns per square metre. Its planogram is user-friendly for both customer and retailer, and turns Basil’s products into eye-catchers and income generators. The system is obtainable in sizes 1 to 20 metres, and is available to bike retailers under certain conditions.

Workshop ‘How to integrate lifestyle in your shop’
In the context of Ladies’ Night during the bike market at FietsVAK, which focuses on women as the inconspicuous but driving force in bike shops, Basil’s Creative Director Agnes Noordermeer will be giving a workshop on Monday 30 January, called ‘How to integrate lifestyle in your shop.’ The bike branch is still quite a male-dominated world, even though bikes and bike accessories are increasingly becoming fashion items. Which is definitely women’s territory. This workshop, specially designed for women working in the bike branch, demonstrates simply and efficiently how bike retailers can integrate lifestyle in their shops.
